An astronomical database compiled at the Centre de Données Astronomiques. The acronym is said to be derived from "Set of Identifications, Measurements and Bibliographic references of Astronomical Data". The database aims to provide cross-identifications for stars, galaxies, clusters, nebulae and other objects, together with fundamental, observational and bibliographic data.
